3 in 1 day! No longer boring!

I took some cute pictures so I wanted to post them:

Texting his girlfriend:

Brusha Brusha Brusha!

We started a journal for Carter when we were trying to conceive so we figured it was time to start one for our next baby. Carter's is the Oh The Places You'll Go and eventual baby #2's is the Cat in The Hat.

A sampling from Carter's book:

Yes, I know his name is not Clark but it was going to be...

Sounds of a "sleeping" baby

Boring is good

I was told recently that my blog has been "boring" the past couple of days (thanks Grandma) so I thought I would give an update. Things are going well. Today has been a good day so far. He's happy and smiling and doesn't have a fever at all. I will try to keep my blog interesting from now on.

The monitor

Since we got home from the hospital we've started using the baby monitor and it cracks me up. Carter went to bed about 15 minutes ago and I keep hearing him pull the cord on his lion that is tied to the outside of his crib and then the music plays. Hey, if it helps him sleep so be it.

I took a half day today so we could take Carter to his pediatrician. He was happy with how well Carter is doing and says we do not need to take him to the neurology clinic like the hospital told us. Other good news: I talked to our HR person about how much our insurance will cover for the whole thing and it looks like they cover 90% of the ER and 90% of the ambulance ride(s). Hooray! That's a relief.

Carter on the way to the doctor.

Poor little Carter still had his "metal nipples" from his heart monitor and they were so sticky we had to get the doctor to give us something to help take them off. It didn't help too much so we ended up leaving the second one on. Luckily when we when to pick up Jeff and Rachelle from the airport the heat of his car seat straps made it less sticky and easier to remove. So now he's no longer the bionic boy.

Carter was enjoying my cell phone tonight.

You expect to be able to hear your baby better with a baby monitor, but you aren't expecting to hear this:

I moved it.

Back to normal

Here is a video of Carter running around and back to normal. I put him to bed at 7:15 and hopefully the last couple of days haven't screwed up his inner clock. I'm not expecting for him to sleep through the night but it will be nice if he can get back to that sometime soon. We'll see. I'm planning on working a half day tomorrow and then we are going to take him to his doctor. I'm sure he'll be happy to get out of the house for a few minutes.

Tired boy!

He was taking a nap and wanted to get up but he's still so tired!

Playing with daddy.

Not perfect but getting there

No more sad hospital pictures. We got our disc of pictures today from his 1 year photo shoot so I thought I would post one. He's doing better but still sleeping most of the time. His fever is significantly lower and he hasn't thrown up since Saturday. Right now he's eating a banana and drinking gatorade. I'm pretty sure he'll want to take another nap soon even though he just got up. Again, thanks to everyone for all the prayers and well wishes. We think we are on the tail end of this.

Just waiting

Since my last post his fever has dropped significantly and he is still sleeping. He did wake up once a little angry but he's back to sleep now and he's doing well. Right now we are just waiting for his fever to break and then we can stop worrying. Dave will be home soon and that will be a welcome break for me. We will continue to keep you all updated and we really do appreciate everyone's concern.

The good news and bad news right now.

I'm sitting with the laptop in Carter's room because the last time I took his temp it was back up to 103. There is some good news to this. Yesterday when he had his seizures they were caused by his temp spiking to 103 and even 102. While I am still concerned I am slightly comforted because he is at such a high temp and has not had a seizure. I gave him Tylenol and will sit here until his fever starts to drop. I'm sure he's fine and he just needs to sleep off this nasty bug. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I am planning to take a vacation day on Tuesday even if his fever breaks before then because we are supposed to go see his pediatrician and I just want to be sure that everything is fine. As always, I'll keep you posted.

Happy to be going home!

Doing good.

We are still at the hospital under observation but Carter hasn't had anymore seizures since yesterday and we all got a little sleep. His cat scan and his spinal tap came back normal and he seems to be doing good.

What's that beep?

Carter's machine is beeping and he's trying to turn it off!

Daddy found ESPN!

So now we're enjoying basketball! It's going ok but bedtime was about an hour ago so someone is really sleepy. My great uncle king is on his way to help Dave give Carter a blessing so that should help with our nerves and what not. We appreciate the love and prayers and we are sure he will be just fine.

Round 2

Well we left the hospital and on the way home Carter threw up all over his car seat and then about 5 minutes after we got home he had another seizure. So we called 911 again and the same paramedics came and did the whole thing again! Now we are at the hospital and Carter has an IV for fluids and is on oxygen. Right now he is reading Are you my mother with Dave and is just exhausted. It's been a long day for all of us and I think we'll be here for a while. I will try to keep updating the Blog.

Just playing

So tired but ok.

Well we were seen by a doctor and the good news is that she doesn't think it was a febrile seizure. She thinks it was just shaking and shivering due the fever. We are still at the hospital waiting to see another doctor but luckily Carter is finally getting his much needed nap. He's had a long day and is ready to go home.

Enjoying a PBJ.

At the hospital.

Before you freak out we are ok, but Carter has a fever which caused him to have a seizure which the paramedics and the nurses say are totally normal. This has been the scariest day of my life and also my first ambulance ride. We will keep you all updated just know he's going to be ok.

ANTS!

So we were sitting on the living room floor this morning playing when all the sudden I see one ant. So I squashed it. Then I look over and see a whole bunch more. Needless to say I started freaking out, grabbed his breakfast and we headed out to the patio. I didn't want to go inside until Dave got home and could help me deal with it. Long story short, the bubble gun was broken so I had to improvise and grab whatever I could find on the patio that closely resembled a toy. This is Carter drumming on a hard hat!

In case you thought it was a fluke...

So smart!

Carter's Uncle Derek, Auntie Nikee and cousin Andrew got him this super cool toy for his birthday and one of the many cool things about it is the shape sorter. Carter has gotten VERY good at it! See for yourself:

He's definitely his father's son. Shapes and colors.

Is it summer yet?

It was warm yesterday so we dressed Carter in some of his summer clothes when we went over to Jeff and Rachelle's. I put his glasses on him before we left and he wore them until I took them off him when we got there! Such a good boy!

Not a great day.

The morning started out great! Carter looked adorable, I fit in a pre-pregnancy dress, we got to church on time... then it went down hill.

Dave had to pick some of our friends up at the airport and of course right after he left Carter fell and busted his lip open, he spit up, he wouldn't sit still for more than a second and he fell almost every time I let him walk.

On top of all of that, yesterday was my first day taking Progesterone. I have to take it for 10 days after which I have to take the Clomid. I was seriously having hot flashes all during church which I tried to play off as just being warm in my sweater but a number of my friends were actually cold. I was so happy when Dave showed up that I actually started crying. Sad. Anyway, now Carter is napping and Dave and I are just relaxing. Hopefully things will get better.
