"Vowels are important letters. There's a vowel in every word."

This year Dave and I don't have a lot of money to spend on Christmas presents so I've decided to make some of them. As I have mentioned several times on my blog Carter loves his They Might Be Giants movies and I don't know if I've mentioned it but he loves puppets. I've decided to make him the easiest looking puppets from the ABC DVD, the vowel family:

Yes, this is taken from my TV on pause. I got most of the supplies today, but I have a plea going out to all of my friends and family living in Salt Lake! If everyone could save their toilet paper and paper towel rolls for me I would greatly appreciate it. I will come pick them up! Please leave me a comment if you have any to spare. Thanks so much!

Family day 3

We had to make today family day because Dave had a mondo paper due Friday and needed to work on it Thursday. This family day was MUCH better than last week's. We started out watching conference at Jeff and Rachelle's and I really enjoyed Elder Uchdorf's talk. Then we went and checked out a game store that J & R had suggested. It's called Boardgame Revolution and they are only open 2 days a week so they can charge less for their games. They seriously do sell there games for much less. We bought a family Christmas present there and ordered another game that we want to play for Halloween.

Getting dressed and ready for conference.

Then we headed over to the Salt Lake City Public Library. It was the coolest library I've ever been to!!!

5 stories:

Glass elevators:

Children's section with holes in the wall leading to children's reading areas and computer rooms. This was in the "crystal cave" (very supermanish)

This was called the Attic (another hole in the wall of the kid's section.)

Made out of canned foods for a food drive.

Cool fireplaces:

A couch in the kid's section... If our couch had a baby this would be it:

All in all a very fun afternoon and a great way to spend a rainy day! Oh and I got a library card! Yeah!

A tall order

We are pretty much running out of every thing at the same time so we had to make a HUGE order from diapers.com. This is what we got:

  • 216 size 1 pampers diapers.
  • 384 huggies wipes.
  • 3 8oz cans of Gerber rice cereal.
  • 2 32oz cans of Good Start formula (with comfort proteins for easy digestion)
  • 8 2 packs of Gerber stage 1 pears
  • 8 2 packs of Gerber stage 1 sweet potatoes
  • and Gerber graduates "lil' Dippers" (for his Christmas stocking)

If anybody was wondering what to get me for Christmas I'd say the bulk of my money goes to diapers.com or howfasttheygrow.com which both sell gift certificates. Lame I know, but that's what I want this year. If anybody plans on making their own order from diapers.com you can use my coupon code and save $10 off your first order of $50 or more. Here it is: BRMA7518

Kind of a bust...

We just got home from the OCM reunion and Dave hardly knew anyone. He did see his MTC companion Elder Jenson and we saw Keith but it was a lot of the sister missionaries.
Dave and Brad Jenson

Us with Keith and Katie bond. And no... I'm not nursing Carter.

Me eating the most delicious Chocolate caramel apple... I brought fruit. Glad I couldn't find sliced apples because these would have put me to total shame. I had SO many and I want to go back for more!

Goofing off.

Yuck.

What's worse than happening upon a moldy piece of cake? Finding it on the end of your fork on your 3rd bite! Yuck.

Oh and I'm bringing apple slices and caramel tonight.

Our day started rough.

So I went to bed last night and woke up today with the same stomach ache. Bleh and I've been tired all day. Also when Dave was giving Carter his medicine this morning he spilled some on the floor. 1 bottle of Zantac costs $70 so every drop counts. I'd say there's about $20 of Zantac on our carpet. Not to mention I've been having dream problems where I can't see what's going on clearly which will make even a dream about puppies scary. Dave had an essay due at 4pm today so he worked on that the majority of today and luckily Carter slept which means I got a couple of great naps. My other dilemma is that we are going to Dave's mission reunion tonight and we are supposed to bring a finger food. Well, I picked our outfits days ago and completely forgot about the food. Now I'm pretty much out of time to make anything good. Bleh. Hopefully tonight makes today better and we have fun. I get to see my friend Keith (Elder Bond as Dave knows him) from elementary school since he went to the same mission as Dave. Luckily he says he's going. I wonder what he's bringing...

More birds.

Today Carter and I went to the Aviary with Stacey and Scarlett. On the first Thursday of every month zoo members get in for free so we figured we would take advantage of our membership. I mostly tried to get pictures of the birds that we didn't get a good look at last time we were there and of course pictures of the Dooder.

The condor. One of Dave's favorite. He was hiding last time so Dave asked that I try and get a picture of him this time. They didn't turn out great but I got a couple.

Trying to get a cute one of us...

We're as tall as an emu!

Scarlett being cute.

Hornbill I think...

The flamingos and their reflections.

The baby flamingo.

Another try.

I can't remember what this is but I thought it was cute.

Back at Stacey and Scarlett's house showing Stacey he can be a ham.

They're getting used to each other.

Action shot! Rolling around.

Resting for a second.

Scarlett likes Carter's shoes!

Fauxpa 2!

We had another visit from Fauxpa and this time we got some pictures. We had a lot of fun and we love seeing him so often!

Carter wearing part of his new dragon humidifier.

A little tummy time... It never lasts long.

Being cute and silly.

Ok, Carter does a trick. Only one trick, but it's a good one. He's our little ET. When I stick out my pointer finger he will stick his out and touch it. Sometimes he just uses his one finger and sometimes he uses all of them, this time was somewhere in between.

Lounging in his chair.

Happy Birthday Mom!

If you keep getting older then why do you keep looking younger... not fair.

Mom knows best.

After some advice from various people I decided to try to "just feed him more" and what do you know.... Last night Dave and I were up every hour with a screaming puking baby. Like I said would happen. That's why this reflux thing isn't as easy as "just feed him more" otherwise I would have done that from the start. Looks like I did know a little something about parenting after all. Hmm... who would've thought.
