More birds.

Today Carter and I went to the Aviary with Stacey and Scarlett. On the first Thursday of every month zoo members get in for free so we figured we would take advantage of our membership. I mostly tried to get pictures of the birds that we didn't get a good look at last time we were there and of course pictures of the Dooder.

The condor. One of Dave's favorite. He was hiding last time so Dave asked that I try and get a picture of him this time. They didn't turn out great but I got a couple.

Trying to get a cute one of us...

We're as tall as an emu!

Scarlett being cute.

Hornbill I think...

The flamingos and their reflections.

The baby flamingo.

Another try.

I can't remember what this is but I thought it was cute.

Back at Stacey and Scarlett's house showing Stacey he can be a ham.

They're getting used to each other.

Action shot! Rolling around.

Resting for a second.

Scarlett likes Carter's shoes!

Those birds are such beautiful colors. I was surprised to see that the baby flamingo wasn't pink. I love the reflection shot and of course all the pix of the dooder with and without his mom. We got our postcard today! Thank you Carter! We miss you too... a lot!!

FACT: The flamingo's characteristic pink colouring is caused by the Beta carotene in their diet. The source of this varies by species, but shrimp and blue-green algae are common sources; zoo-fed flamingos may be given food with the additive canthaxanthin, which is often also given to farmed salmon.

Rachelle says she doesn't know one single fact about flamingos. :) HAhaha
